- 9/8 (Thursday 1 to 2:30 Lunch & Learn John C. Hart Library, Shrub Oak (Free-of-charge, open to the general public) Before the Fall: Preparing Your Mind and Body for Winter with The Alternative Healing Center Dr. Jordan, Ph.D., Holistic Minister Practitioner will discuss the role of cooked and raw foods for healthy living and healing, exercise, why the body stores fat and while you may be consuming lots of water you still feel parched as well as the importance of plants (oils, herbs and spices) that restore and maintain wellbeing. The talk includes a non-invasive demonstration of how plant medicine affect one’s life force. Followed by Q&A session and an overview of the BioQuantum Physics technology used at the Alternative Healing Clinic.
- 9/14 (Wednesday 1:30 to 4:00) Day Trip: Wave Hill Botanical Garden, the Bronx, (members + 1, only $5 surcharge + admission fee $10) Docent-led tour of Wave Hill - a 28-acre estate in the Hudson Hill section of Riverdale in the Bronx, New York City. Wave Hill currently consists of public horticultural gardens and a cultural center, all situated on the slopes overlooking the Hudson River, with expansive views across the river to the New Jersey Palisades. Meet at location.
- 9/16 (Friday 12:00 pm) Lunch & Learn Before the Fall: Preparing Your Mind for Winter through Mindfulness with Jane Kolleeny of the Garrison Institute (open to all, no charge). Feeling somewhat at loose ends because your nest is now empty? Needing a bit of selfcare and a new direction? How do we have compassion for ourselves as well as others? How do we inf use our actions with the wisdom that we must do our best while honoring that we’re not in control. Learn how to balance the desire to help others with your own needs.
- 9/18 (Sunday 3 to 5) Concert: 7th Annual Beethoven Festival Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra –- Beethoven & Others (members only +1, $3 surcharge, no admission fee) Beethoven and Others – YPO Ensembles perform a unique and varied programs of works by Beethoven, and other renowned German Composers, including Bach, Handel, Schubert and Weill, exploring the influence and inspiration of German music across three centuries. - 9/30 (Friday 7:30 to 9:00 pm) Chat & Sip via Zoom -‘Come on over’ to Our Place (members only, no charge) Grab your favorite beverage. See who’s here via Zoom. 8:00 breakout into smaller discussion groups. Network from 7:30 to 8:00 then break into smaller groups. Chat about the topics of your choice until 9.
Lunch and Learn is open to the general public. Everyone (both men and women, any age) are welcome.
Membership and members-only events are limited to women 50 years of age and older (some allow +1).
